Greenville Junior/Senior High School (GJSHS) is one of four junior-senior high schools in Plumas Unified School District in northeastern California. The school is nestled in the northwest corner of Indian Valley, an area comprised of the communities of Taylorsville, Genesee, Crescent Mills, Round Valley and Greenville. This valley is surrounded by a stunning mountain backdrop and is rich in beauty and history. Throughout the 1960's, Greenville and the outlying areas depended on the timber, mining and ranching industries as its main source of economic viability. The area has a rich Maidu heritage and currently has an active Native American population that is supportive and involved in the local schools and provides many community resources as well. The town of Greenville, with a population of approximately 1200 people, recently completed a downtown modernization project which added sidewalks and lighting through the downtown area. The school has implemented the 1:1 program this year in grades 7-12.
